Not sure if you're ready for a co-packer?

Many founders reach out asking for a production price. Often the product is great — but a responsible quote depends on answers they don't have yet.

  • Is the formula commercially scalable, or only reliable at kitchen size?
  • Should the product be refrigerated or shelf stable?
  • What shelf life is realistic for this product and this process?
  • Does it require process-authority review?
  • Does it need laboratory testing before launch?
  • Which packaging actually fits the intended process?
  • Is HPP, hot-fill, cold-fill, or another method appropriate?
  • What production quantities are realistic to start?
  • What needs to happen before a pilot run?
  • What information will a manufacturer need before quoting?

We help establish that path first — before you invest heavily in packaging, inventory, equipment, or a large production run. For some products that's a short conversation. For others it's a structured Product Commercialization Roadmap.

Roadmap

Product Commercialization Roadmap

A structured professional engagement for founders who have a product idea, recipe, prototype, or early-stage brand — but aren't yet ready for a straightforward production quote.

A roadmap looks at your actual product and lays out what it will take to produce it commercially: what's already in place, what's missing, which decisions carry the most cost or risk, and which outside resources may be needed.

The exact scope is set after we review your project. Pricing for roadmap and consulting work is quoted individually once we understand what the product needs.

Depending on the product and scope, a review may address:

Formula & ingredients

  • Current recipe or formulation
  • Commercial formulation considerations
  • Ingredient sourcing
  • Production volumes
  • Preliminary production economics

Process & shelf life

  • Processing method
  • Refrigerated versus shelf-stable strategy
  • Shelf-life goals
  • Process-authority requirements
  • Laboratory and testing requirements
  • HPP suitability, where appropriate
  • Hot-fill or other processing options

Packaging

  • Packaging compatibility
  • Bottle and container selection
  • Filling and closure requirements
  • Shipping and cold-chain considerations

Production path

  • Pilot-production pathway
  • Manufacturing requirements
  • Scale-up requirements
  • Outside technical or manufacturing resources, when needed

A roadmap is a planning engagement. It doesn't by itself provide regulatory approval, laboratory validation, a process-authority letter, guaranteed shelf life, or a fully validated production-ready formula — it identifies which of those your product needs and how to get them.

Capabilities

The production formats we work in — and where outside validation comes in.

Refrigerated

Juices, lemonades, teas, syrups, and perishable sauces made for cold-chain distribution.

Hot-Fill

Heat-treated beverages, syrups, and sauces filled at temperature, where the product and package suit it.

Shelf-Stable & Acidified

Sauces, condiments, and acidified products for ambient distribution, made under a process established by a qualified process authority where required.

Fermented

Live-culture products made with documented pH and safety controls.

Our current beverage focus is still (non-carbonated) products. We don't operate HPP equipment in-house; when HPP may fit, we evaluate suitability and coordinate with qualified HPP and validation partners.

Paradise vs. Traditional Co-Packers

Why emerging brands that don't fit the big-plant mold work with us.

National co-packers are built for volume. We're built for flexibility. If you've been quoted by a big operation and walked away with sticker shock — or rejected for being too small — this is what working with us looks like instead.

Best For
Emerging brands, pilot and small-batch production, products still taking shape.
Established brands at national scale.

We support qualified emerging brands from pilot quantities through growth-stage production. Minimums depend on product, process, packaging, and project requirements — outside processing such as HPP, specialized packaging, or validation work can raise the practical minimum. We work best with commercial projects, not single-occasion personal use.

Our Process

A commercialization pathway — you start wherever your product is today.

Not every client starts at step one, and not every project needs every phase. Some clients arrive with a validated formula and only need production. Others need substantial commercialization work before a responsible production quote is possible.

  1. Project Qualification

We learn what you're making, where it stands, and what you're trying to achieve.

  2. Commercialization / Technical Review

We identify formula, process, packaging, and economic gaps — often through a Product Commercialization Roadmap.

  3. Formulation & Process Development

Structured development work scoped to what the product needs.

  4. Testing, Process Authority & Regulatory Pathway

As required. Specialized work is performed by qualified third parties; we help you prepare and coordinate.

  5. Pilot Production

A first run to confirm the product, process, package, and costs at real scale.

  6. Commercial Production

Small-batch manufacturing and co-packing on our production floor, where the product fits our capabilities.

  7. Scale-Up

Growing with us — or a planned transition to a larger manufacturing partner when volume or equipment needs exceed ours.

Scale-Up & Partner Coordination

If your product outgrows our production floor, that doesn't necessarily mean our relationship ends.

Small-batch production is where we operate. When a brand's volume or equipment needs exceed it, we can still help plan the next step.

Large programs need different equipment, line speeds, and packaging systems than a small-batch floor provides. We don't take on large-scale, high-volume programs internally — but the work done with us can make the transition to a larger manufacturer faster and better prepared.

Where we can help

  • Defining manufacturing requirements
  • Packaging and equipment compatibility review
  • Identifying suitable co-manufacturing resources
  • Manufacturer search
  • Preparing technical information for handoff
  • Vendor and manufacturer communication
  • Scale-up planning
  • Transition from small-batch to larger-volume manufacturing

Outside Experts & Confidentiality

How we work with labs, process authorities, and other specialists — and how we handle your formula.

How we work with outside experts

Commercial food production can involve laboratories, process authorities, HPP providers, packaging suppliers, regulatory specialists, logistics providers, and other manufacturers. When outside expertise is required, we help you understand what's needed and coordinate the appropriate next step, rather than marking up an unnecessary black-box service.

Third-party services are performed by those providers and are generally scoped and billed separately, unless your agreement with us says otherwise.

Confidentiality & ownership

We treat client information as confidential, and NDAs are available when appropriate. Ownership of client-specific formulas and intellectual property is defined in the applicable development or services agreement.

Please don't submit confidential formulas or complete proprietary recipes through the public intake form unless you're comfortable doing so. We can put an NDA in place before reviewing formulation details.

Our Story

How a half-joking suggestion at a Newark farm started a food & beverage company.

It started because nobody else would help.

I couldn't find a co-packer to take on a small run, so I decided to make it myself. Somewhere along the way, I realized I genuinely enjoyed making things for other businesses.

One fateful day, while visiting Kranz Hill Farms (now The Produce Peddler) in Newark, Delaware, I overheard the staff debating what to do with thirteen pounds of surplus cayenne peppers. Half joking, I suggested they make hot sauce. To my surprise, they asked me if I would do it myself, peppers free of charge.

A few days later, a bucket of peppers was fermenting in my dining room.

After giving the owner a few samples, he suggested I sell him a few bottles. I hesitated, because I wasn't sure I wanted to turn something I loved doing for fun into a business. But as the samples kept going out and the feedback kept coming back, I knew I had something worth sharing.

Over time, I turned more of Kranz Hill Farm's produce into gourmet artisan goods, building a line that now includes hot sauce, pepper sauce, pickled beets, and apple cider vinegar — and a manufacturing partnership that helps other businesses do the same.

FAQ

Common questions, answered up front.

Can you work with me if I only have a home recipe?

Yes. Many projects start as a kitchen recipe. The first step is understanding what the product is, how you want to sell it, and what it would take to make it commercially — which may include formulation, process, packaging, and testing work before production. A Product Commercialization Roadmap is often the right starting point.

What if my product isn't ready for production yet?

That's common, and it's what our commercialization work is for. We can help identify what's missing — formula documentation, process and shelf-life strategy, packaging, testing requirements, or economics — and lay out the steps between where you are and a pilot run.

What happens before I receive a production quote?

We start with the intake form so we understand your product and its stage. Products that are already commercially validated may be ready for direct production quoting. Earlier-stage products may first need formulation, commercialization, testing, packaging, or process work before a meaningful production quote can be developed. We'll tell you which path fits.

How does pricing work?

Pricing depends on the stage and scope of your project. Production pricing reflects product type, batch size, packaging, and process. Commercialization and formulation work is scoped and quoted per project after we review what the product needs. Outside services such as laboratories, process authorities, or HPP are typically quoted by those providers.

Do I need an NDA before sending my recipe?

You don't need to share your recipe to get started — the intake form asks for high-level information only. If you're ready to share confidential formulation details, we can put an NDA in place first. Please don't submit complete proprietary recipes through the public form unless you're comfortable doing so.

Can you help determine whether my product should be refrigerated or shelf stable?

Yes. That decision affects formulation, process, packaging, testing, distribution, and cost, so it's one of the first things we look at. We'll help you weigh the options against your sales model; the final process and shelf life for a shelf-stable product must be established and validated by qualified professionals where required.

Can you help evaluate shelf-life requirements?

Yes. We can help you define a realistic shelf-life goal, understand what drives it for your product, and plan the evidence needed to support it. We don't guarantee shelf life — it has to be supported by an appropriate process and, where required, laboratory or process-authority work.

Do you provide process-authority or shelf-life testing?

We don't perform process-authority validation or laboratory shelf-life testing ourselves. We help you understand what your product requires, prepare the information those providers need, and coordinate with qualified external process authorities and laboratories.

Can you help evaluate HPP?

Yes. We can evaluate whether high pressure processing may fit your commercialization strategy — including formula, packaging, cold chain, run size, and cost — and coordinate with outside HPP and validation resources where appropriate. We don't operate HPP equipment in-house.

Can you help source bottles, caps, ingredients, and labels?

Yes. We can help source ingredients, bottles, jars, caps, closures, and labels, or run your own materials if you have preferred suppliers. Packaging should be chosen to fit the intended process, so we'll flag compatibility questions early. Custom packaging can carry high minimums and long lead times.

Can you help with labels and nutrition panels?

We can help you organize and coordinate nutrition panels, ingredient statements, and labeling, working with qualified third parties where specialized review is needed. Label design can be handled by your designer or a partner we refer.

Do you work with startup brands?

Yes. Emerging and startup brands are a core focus. We work best with founders who are serious about a commercial launch, whether you're at the concept stage or already selling.

What quantities do you produce?

We support qualified emerging brands from pilot quantities through growth-stage production. Minimums depend on product, process, packaging, and project requirements. Outside processing such as HPP, specialized packaging, or validation work can create higher practical minimums for some products.

Can you help me find another manufacturer if my volume or equipment needs exceed your capabilities?

Yes. If your product outgrows our production floor, we can help define manufacturing requirements, review packaging and equipment compatibility, identify suitable co-manufacturers, prepare technical information, and plan the transition.

Can you help with refrigerated shipping or cold-chain planning?

Yes, as part of commercialization planning. We can discuss freight, refrigerated shipping, and logistics options, and help coordinate third-party transportation or fulfillment providers. We don't operate a full-scale fulfillment or 3PL service; we can ship finished cases to your warehouse, distributor, or accounts as arranged per project.

How long does a project take?

It depends on where the product starts. A commercially ready formula can move to production relatively quickly, subject to packaging and scheduling. Products that need formulation, testing, or process-authority work take longer, and outside providers set their own timelines. We'll share a realistic timeline before you commit.

What certifications do you have?

We operate out of a licensed, FDA-registered production facility in Wilmington, Delaware. FDA registration is not an approval or endorsement. Additional certifications can be discussed for specific client programs as needed.
